They may as well hand Limerick the title now as they seem destined to bounce straight back up to the Premier Division.

It was a massive surprise that they ended up down here at all as they were expected to comfortably see off Finn Harps in the play offs last season. After an amazing run of form that lifted them off the bottom they looked streets ahead of Harps but it wasn’t to be.

They are consigned to the League Of Ireland First Division for a year  and they have to deal with it but it offers plenty of opportunity to the football bettor. Getting Limerick right on the handicaps could be the difference between profit and loss this year.

For my money this weekend is the right time. Cobh Ramblers have started well with a win away from home in their first game. That was their third win on the road  in eight games which also happened to be their third win in about forty away from home. Things are definitely on the up for The Ramblers.

They will need to hold a wee while to get their fourth, though. Limerick dropped down a division and then proceeded to sign real Premier Division quality. Johnny O Flynn from Cork, for example, and Aaron Greene from Pats are major boosts to their squad.

They should cover a handicap most weeks, particularly at home, and if the price is right it could be a lucrative exchange for punters.

Limerick v Cobh Ramblers Betting Preview Best Betting Odds

Limerick are favourites at a best 1.3 (3/10) with bet365 and Paddy Power. Cobh can be backed as high as 10.5 (19/2) with Marathon Bet while the draw is available at a best 5.8 (24/5) with Marathon Bet.

Limerick -1 is no better than 1.83 (5/6) with Boylesports and Ladbrokes and that’s a touch too short. But on the Asian Handicap markets you can get 1.93 (13/14) from McBookie for -1.5 Asian Handicap (equivalent to -1 European) and that’s a price worth taking.
