St Patricks Athletic had a week off after their game against Finn Harps was postponed last week.

To be fair that probably accounts for them being in sixth place as much as anything. If they win that game in hand (scheduled for Monday) they could leapfrog at least two sides providing, of course, they also beat winless Sligo Rovers on Friday night.

Although Pats fans must be a little concerned by their early season home form. A 3-0 win over Bohemians is the only bright spot in a record that has seen them comprehensively beaten twice by the visitors.

It would be quite a stretch to think that The Bit O Red will get their first win in Inchicore on Friday night but it’s not too crazy to reject Pats at such heavy odds on prices. While Sligo’s away form has seen them lose twice (heavily to Bray) without registering a single goal their 0-0 draw with Cork last weekend has raised expectations.

Goals are a real problem for the Connacht side with just two in their first six games and their best chance of getting anything from this game looks likely to be a rearguard action.

Keeping the likes of Christy Fagan at bay is a tough ask for most teams and Sligo will have to be at their peak to have any hopes of painting the town red.

St Patricks Athletic v Sligo Rovers Betting Preview Best Betting Odds

It’s hard to have a lot of faith in Pats at such short odds with Boylesports best at 1.57 (4/7) for the home win. Sligo Rovers can be backed at a high of 7.2 (31/5) with Marathon Bet who are also best price for a draw at 3.95 (56/19).

With Sligo’s lack of goals a real concern you would be hard pressed to back both teams to score at 2.23 (16/13) with 888Sport. Backing +2.5 goals also holds little appeal at 2.1 (11/10) with most firms.

There is not much to tempt from this game but if forced to have a bet you could look to Pats +1.5 team goals at 1.83 (5/6) with Boylesports. Once the anytime goalscorer markets open up you can look to Christy Fagan if the price is right at around 2.3 (13/10) or above.
